The Chadar Trek in Ladakh
It is one hard challenge that tests your mental, physical and psychological capabilities. Chadar, the name is attributed because of the ice sheet (translated in Hindi as Chadar) that becomes of the River Zanskar’s water in the freezing winter weather. Walking over the treacherous paths and battling the slapping frozen winds is not for the weak-hearted. The best time to head on for this adventure is in the months of January and February.
Goecha La Trek in Sikkim
There are many trekking spots in this small state. Among them, one of the most exciting is the Goecha La Trek. The starting point of the trail is Yuksom, which is 5600 feet above the sea level. The lovely vistas, and the gushing streams provide much peace to the exhausted souls throughout the trek. It’s one of the most scenic treks in the country.
A one-day trekking (hiking) experience. This particular trail is very popular amongst the first timers. Staring from Darjeeling, the trek via the picturesque Old Military route ends at kurseong. Along the way, you get to visit the Mag-Dhog monastery, some enchanting stretches of coffee plantations as well as tea estates. This trek offers the trekkers to delve deep into the wonders of nature, breathing in the freshest air.
Hampta Pass, Himachal Pradesh
High-altitude adventure trek at the Hapmta Pass in Himachal Pradesh. White snow clad peaks and grasslands all the way, the delightful trek yet needs you tread difficult terrains that test your endurance. The key places that come in the way are Chilka, BalukaGhera, between the jobra and Hampta, the starting and end points respectively.

Kumara Parvatha Trek in Karnataka
This one’s not up in the North, but in the South Indian state- Karnataka. The twisting terrains, makes it quite an interesting trek. The milieu is breathtakingly beautiful. Along the way, come two peaks- Shasha Parvat and Kumara Parvat. This one makes for a great experience for the adventure seekers, who do not wish to venture into the Himalayas, and it’s mighty trading challenges. You can take a direct flight to Bangalore, and then reach the trekking location via road.
